Mya Evans is from the DFW area, She has trained styles ranging from Liturgical dance, traditional drill, African, Afro-Fusion, Hip hop, Majorette, Heels, Modern, Jazz, and Ballet. Mya graduated from Texas Women's University with her B.A. in Dance. She has danced works by Abdel Salaam, Michelle Gibson, and Bryan Peters.Mya was introduced to production work through dance at Duke University for the American Dance Festival (2022). She has taught at international dance festivals like Bailando and can be most recently seen assisting Michelle Gibson in residency at the University of Texas at Austin for her work; “Altar of Humanity: The Convocation, The Resolution,The Benediction” assisting with her Media and Archival Processes. Mya currently teaches dance at GWC STEM Learning Center where she acts as the artistic director of the school's dance company, GWC Constellations. Mya also has a production company High Caliber Divisions. The company's vision is to, "Evolve the perspective of people of the African Diaspora in media through all lenses." In the fall Ms. Evans will attend Howard University to receive her M.Ed in Educational Leadership & Policy. It is through all these avenues that Ms.Evans is working to provide service, cultivate community and make dance education more accessible to all.
